The SEFLIN “Evolving Technologies” Annual Conference was
held July 11, 2013, at the Kovens Conference Center, Biscayne Bay Campus,
Florida International University, North Miami Beach, Florida, to the largest
crowd in the history of the conferences. Three-hundred and two registered
guests attended the conference and were provided a healthy dose of new
information and knowledge about technologies which impact our organizations and
enhance our ability to provide educational and library services.
The 17-member Planning Committee was headed by Palm Beach
State College / Lake Worth Campus Library Professor Douglas Cornwell.
Together with the SEFLIN staff, this team worked diligently over the past year
in putting together a successful conference.
The keynote speaker, Jamie LaRue, library director of the
Douglas County, Colorado Public Libraries, addressed issues regarding improved
library systems for delivery of traditional library resources and digital
technologies such as ebooks and databases.
Twenty-four speakers and panelists presented 12 breakout
sessions about various library technologies. Conference sponsor displays,
a luncheon, and exciting door prizes were well received.
