“Setting the Tone: The Role of Faculty in the First Year Experience”

Dacota Stewart-Dick, the First-Year Experience manager for the College, worked closely with Library staff to implement the Common Reader for the First Year Experience program. We will miss her enthusiasm for the Palm Beach State students and our partnership with her.

With much sadness here at the library at the news of the passing of Dacota, we will keep her family, friends and co-workers in our thoughts and prayers.

Kite Runner-One College-One Book-Sept. 7th, 2012

Everyone at Palm Beach State is Reading!
All locations of Palm Beach State join together for the First Year Experience One Book, One College Read Together.
Sponsored by LLRCs, First Year Experience and Student Activity Centers.

Last Friday, Sept. 7th, new students at the Lake Worth campus, were treated to a very fun day at the Duncan Theater and the Market Place.   This was the inaugural FYE Convocation. Each 'goodie' bag included a copy of the Kite Runner from the library for the One Book, One College Read Together program.

Below find a guide for faculty and First Year Experience students on the common reader, The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini.

Check back for more news concerning events and discussion groups. The library purchased the paperback for distribution at all our campus locations for first year students that attended the FYE Convocation.

Complementary copies of the book will be available for students who participate in the Read Together.
